SGS Krav Maga is a self-defence school specialising in authentic Krav Maga under the HKM banner. We run Krav Maga for beginner and are located in Sydney’s St George region. We teach you practical fight skills to protect yourself and get fit in the process.
You will learn solutions to common assault scenarios using easy-to-learn techniques that are designed for a high level of proficiency in a short period of time.

KRAV MAGA IS THE BEST FORM OF SELF DEFENCE
In everyday life, the possibility of finding yourself in a violent situation is slim, but not altogether impossible. The reality is that the natural bodily responses to a threat would make it extremely difficult to execute the techniques taught in traditional martial arts.
The key to Krav Maga is simplicity – learning how to neutralise an attacker by using the natural reflexes of the body as a base for self defence. While it was originally developed for military combat, it has since been further developed specifically for use by civilians.
REAL SKILLS FOR REAL PROBLEMS
Unless you’re training to fight in the Octagon or a ring, there are not going to be any rules or referees nearby if you ever have to fight for your life. More than that, your attacker is unlikely to be exactly your weight-class, and if they have accomplices, they’re unlikely to stay out of the situation in the interests of a “fair fight”.
These are all considerations when you are training real self-defence, rather than martial arts.
We hope that you never need to use what you learn with us, but violence is random and if it visits you, you’ve hopefully invested wisely in skills to save your life: learning real self-defence techniques that have been developed for real-life circumstances.
We use a three-pronged approach to developing your skills in the reality-based self-defence of Krav Maga for Beginners.
Technical Training
You will learn how to overcome common attacks with blocks, strikes, prevention technique, and heightened situational awareness.
Physical Training
Fitness is key to your general preparedness for dealing with work and life stress, plus the hormonal response to a violent encounter. The fitter you are, the better you can deal with… everything.
Practical Experiences
You will develop the skills and mindset to execute moves when it counts.
At SGS Krav Maga we simulate violent assault scenarios in a controlled environment. This prepares you with blueprinting and ensuring correct attacks give you the right attack silhouettes.
That way, if you ever need to defend yourself or your loved ones, with the visual and muscle memory of training you will be in familiar territory.

STEVEN KRATSAS
Certifications – Certified HKM & KMG General Instructor; Certified KMG Combat Mindset Instructor; Certified KMG Womens Instructor
Steven started Krav Maga in 2010 with KMG (Krav Maga Global ) and completed the KMG Instructor course and received his instructors certification in 2014. Steven completed his Krav Maga Instructors’ Certificate under Rune Lind (Norway, KMG Expert Level 4 and Global Team Instructor).
In 2016 Steven undertook the CMIC (Combat Mindset Instructors Course) and was certified to become a Combat Mindset Instructor.
Steven was also involved in the MILES (Military, Law Enforcement and Security) industry for over six years.
Steven is a Hybrid Krav-Maga Black Belt and HKM Certified General Instructor.
