Police have charged a man after he allegedly assaulted and intimidated a 12-year-old girl on a bus between Darlinghurst and Waverley yesterday morning.
About 8am (Thursday 26 March 2015), a 65-year-old man boarded a bus at Darlinghurst and sat next to a 12-year-old girl.
Police have been told he started asking the girl personal questions, before making sexually suggestive remarks. He also allegedly grabbed her arm.
The girl alighted from the bus on Bronte Road, Waverley, and the man also alighted at the same stop.
She ran to her school and reported the incident to her principal, who called police.
Officers from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command commenced an investigation and, about 8.30am today (Friday 27 March 2015), arrested a 65-year-old man outside a building on Bronte Road.
The man was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with:
– Incite person under 16 to commit act of indecency;
– Intimidate – intend fear of physical harm; and
– Common assault.
He was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Friday 27 March 2015), where he was again refused bail to re-appear on Wednesday 8 April 2015.
