Police are appealing for a witness to come forward after the alleged indecent assault of a woman in Kensington yesterday evening.

Shortly before 10.30pm (Thursday 2 April 2015), a 21-year-old woman caught a taxi outside a licensed premises travelling west on Gardeners Road, near the intersection of Botany Road, at Mascot.

The taxi already had another male passenger on board, who was unknown to the woman.

The male passenger was dropped off at his destination a short time later and the woman moved into the front passenger seat for the remainder of the journey.

It’s alleged the taxi driver then drove through a number of residential streets and indecently assaulted the woman.

He later dropped the woman on Barker Street at Kensington and she contacted Triple Zero (000).

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Local Area Command were informed and launched an investigation into the incident.

Detectives would now like to speak with the male passenger who left the vehicle before the alleged assault.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance with fair complexion, about 20-30 years of age, of a thin build and he was last seen wearing a light-coloured t-shirt.

The passenger, or anyone with information that could assist detectives, is urged to contact Eastern Beaches Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/ Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
