What is the PowerKube Combat Performance Training center?
Researched and developed in consultation with sports scientists, professional athletes, and martial artists, the PowerKubeCombat Performance Training Center is the only system in the world that accurately measures and analyses striking performance, speed, and fighting endurance for fighters of combat sports.
The PowerKube itself is a tactile striking pad that incorporates controlled compression technology (CCT), which controls the compression of the pad up to 12cm, making it ideal for measuring all types of strikes, from a light strike to the hardest strike a combat athlete can throw.
Every type of upper and lower-body strike, from hooks, crosses, jabs, elbows, and uppercuts to roud-house kicks, side-kicks, push kicks and knees are programmed into the system.
Built into the tactile pad is an impact analysis technology that provides instant feedback on performance. Combined with custom-built, intuitive touchscreen interface, it allows athletes to get feedback in real time about their striking speed and power.
Using the precision data captured by the PowerKube athletes and coaches can measure and track every element of a striking technique and athletic combat performance.

WHO NEEDS TO USE THE POWERKUBE?
Anyone who trains in combat fighting, martial arts, MMA, or self-defence. In the self-defence context, it is important to strike with power and precision.
If an initial defensive tactic fails, the following strikes must be sufficient to render the attacker unable or unwilling to continue the attack.
There is no other system in the world that allows us to measure but also to use immediate feedback to improve the power, precision, and speed of our striking.
UFC, MMA & OTHER Combat athletes
Combat athletes, such as boxers, kickboxers, MMA fighters, and martial artists, need to know exactly how hard they can strike. It is crucial for their performance in training and competitions.
Understanding their striking power helps them assess their capabilities, strategize their attacks, and gauge the impact of their strikes on opponents.
Law enforcement
& self-defenCe practitioners
Individuals in law enforcement or those training for self-defence can benefit from knowing their striking power.
It helps them understand the potential impact of their strikes in real-world scenarios and adapt their techniques accordingly.
Knowing their power levels enables them to strike effectively and make informed decisions about self-defence strategies.
COMBAT FIGHTING Coaches & trainerS
Coaches and trainers play a vital role in guiding and developing fighters’ skills.
Knowing how hard their athletes can strike helps coaches tailor training programs, techniques, and strategies to optimize their performance.
It allows them to identify areas for improvement and develop personalized training plans based on the athletes’ striking power.
Injury
rehabilitation specialists
In combat sports, injuries are not uncommon. Rehabilitation specialists, such as physical therapists or sports medicine professionals, must know a fighter’s striking power to assess and plan appropriate recovery programs.
Understanding striking power assists in determining the readiness to return to training or competition and managing any potential limitations resulting from an injury.
Strength & conditioning specialists
Strength and conditioning specialists work on enhancing athletes’ physical attributes, including striking power.
They need to know the athletes’ baseline striking power to design appropriate training protocols focusing on power development, explosiveness, and overall strength.
Accurate measurements of striking power help specialists track progress and adjust training regimens.
Research &
equipment
development
Measurement of striking power is valuable for researchers and developers in combat sports equipment.
Understanding the force generated during strikes aids in designing protective gear, such as gloves, headgear, and body padding, to ensure optimal safety and performance.
Accurate data on striking power informs the development of equipment that can withstand and mitigate the impact of strikes.
3 KEY STRIKING PERFORMANCE INDICATORS FOR POWER
IMPACT POWER
The PowerKube measures the peak power generated at the point of strike impact. Measurements are shown in Watts (W). This is the initial impact measurement, which is related to the speed of the strike. Like a shock, it lasts fractions of a second.
KINETIC ENERGY
Human Force
All strikes are comprised of both power and energy but in varying amounts. The Franklin (f) is a metric developed based on an algorithm that combines both the power and energy of a strike to reflect its combined destructive power.
A strike with high Kinetic Energy and Lower Impact Power can have the same Human Force measurement as a strike with low Kinetic Energy and high Impact Power.
MEASURING STRIKING SPEED
The PowerKube Combat Performance Center can measure the reaction time in seconds. The feedback is instant. The PowerKube gives the athlete a visual and audible trigger and captures the Human Force, Impact Power to generate a speed index. In combat sports, an athlete’s ability to respond quickly and powerfully to stimulus is key to successful performance. There is no other technology that measures this accurately.
The PowerKube Speed Index is a measurement that reflects the reaction time and technical striking ability. Reducing the reaction time to stimulus in a combat situation is key to taking advantage of openings in the guard of an opponent and to counterstrikes effectively.
COMBAT ATHLETE PROFILING
Created by measuring performance in multiple techniques across the three power performance indicators, speed, and endurance. This allows athletes and coaches to monitor athletic ability over time.
A CAP Rating is generated for each user, which considers the athlete’s weight and fighting style, to create a rating for each of the KPIs, the sum of which is used to rate fighters based on a calculated Combat Athlete Performance (CAP) rating.

WHY DOES MEASURING
STRIKING POWER MATTER?
Objective assessment
Measuring striking power provides an objective way to evaluate and compare the power of different strikes. It allows fighters and trainers to have a quantifiable measure of the force generated rather than relying solely on subjective observations or perceptions. Objective assessments can provide a more accurate understanding of a fighter’s striking abilities.
Performance improvement
By measuring striking power, fighters can identify areas where they need to improve and set specific goals for power development. It helps in targeting weaknesses and focusing on techniques, strength training, and conditioning exercises that enhance power generation. Measuring power provides a clear benchmark for progress and motivates fighters to improve their striking abilities.
Strategy development
Knowing the level of striking power can inform strategic decision-making during fights or competitions. It allows fighters to understand their strengths and weaknesses relative to their opponents. With this information, they can adapt their game plans, exploit their advantages, and minimize risks by strategizing around their striking power. It can influence decisions such as distance management, striking combinations, or focusing on specific targets.
Training optimization
Measuring striking power enables fighters and trainers to design more effective training programs. It helps assess the impact of different training methods, techniques, and drills on power development. By monitoring power levels, fighters can adjust their training regimen, focusing on areas that require improvement and refining their technique to maximize power generation.
Injury prevention
Measuring striking power also plays a role in injury prevention. By understanding their power levels, fighters can strike with control and avoid excessive force that may lead to self-injury or injury to training partners. It promotes responsible training practices, ensuring that strikes are delivered with the appropriate level of force to minimize the risk of harm.
Performance evaluation
Measuring striking power provides valuable feedback on the effectiveness of strikes. It allows fighters to assess the impact of their strikes on opponents and make adjustments accordingly. This evaluation can contribute to refining technique, improving accuracy, and developing the ability to deliver more impactful strikes.
