�It’s not a secret that people don’t feel safe on public transport.

Learn to defend yourself in a confined space, surrounded by people. Attacks on #PublicTransport are common and it’s not an easy scenario to train for. Buses and trains are not only confined spaces, we are often sitting, and surrounded by unsuspecting by-standers.

SGS Krav Maga is running a self-defence on public transport workshop on a bus parked near our training facility.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

- Situational awareness and prevention skills, including safe habits for waiting at bus stops, walking on underground transit, and riding public transit

- Surviving strikes and weapons assaults in confined and crowded spaces

- Preventing and defending against shoves and pushes (including those near tracks)

- Defending from a seated position against strikes, threats, and weapons attacks

- Skills and techniques to defend yourself in confined spaces, like on buses, streetcars and subway cars

- The psychology of attackers, and how to de-escalate, respond as calmly as possible, and avoid freezing in the face of an attack.

This workshop is open to everyone regardless of previous training, current skill or fitness levels. Self-defence is a right and learning to protect yourself and your loved ones against armed attackers is one that everyone should have the opportunity to learn. This is a must-have set of skills for self-defence.

Knives are everywhere. They were used in Bondi, at the Crunch gym carpark, they're used in home invasions that go unreported, #domesticviolence incidents, armed robberies, carjackings, and on public transport.

While distancing yourself from a threat is a good preemptive tactic, it's not always possible. To be crystal clear: running away from a threat as a blanket strategy is uninformed and dangerous advice.

If the same number of people learned self-defence as know how to run, we'd have fewer dead and with lifelong injuries as a result of knife crime.

The media have been reporting on these more lately, but they've always been a major problem. The Bondi attacks were horrific. How many conversations have you heard where people say they would have done something to stop him?

Yet the stabbings continue. Surfers coming out of the surf, domestic violence, robberies, home invasions...
