The SGS KRAV MAGA KIDS SUMMER GRADING 2024 is a wrap. As the biggest event on the kids annual calendar, this one was no mean feat.

We are so immensely proud of each and every one of you. It was a tough grading. It was a long grading. But you finished the year stronger and better than when you started it, and that is all we will ever expect.

Our kids division is the heart of the school. Every child comes with abilities and stories. We seek to know each one so that we can make sure our self-defence programs are as relevant as they can be.

BACK IN 2024 💪 Join us on Sunday, 24 November for our 9th Annual FREE Women's Self-Defence Workshop. Violence against women is a serious and widespread issue in Australia:

1 in 3 women have experienced physical violence since the age of 15 and 1 in 5 women have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15

Initiatives to change social norms, the legal system, the protection women are offered are important - but it is as important to empower women with the skills to protect themselves if they must.

In honor of the International Day For the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we are proud to host a free self-defence workshop for all women in and outside of our local community. This workshop is well-established at SGS Krav Maga, with 2024 being its 9th year running.

Our instructors have more than 40 years of combined experience teaching women self-defence and an appreciation for the unique challenges women face when attacked - size and strength differences, potentially restrictive clothing or footwear, and the like.

The workshop is open to beginners, other martial arts practitioners, and all women 12+.

We will be focusing on the practical aspects of real-life situations, realistic confrontations and scenarios, with the aim of arming all participants with a basic set of techniques that were designed for the military to be used in any situation, against all types of attackers.

�It’s not a secret that people don’t feel safe on public transport.

Learn to defend yourself in a confined space, surrounded by people. Attacks on #PublicTransport are common and it’s not an easy scenario to train for. Buses and trains are not only confined spaces, we are often sitting, and surrounded by unsuspecting by-standers.

SGS Krav Maga is running a self-defence on public transport workshop on a bus parked near our training facility.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

- Situational awareness and prevention skills, including safe habits for waiting at bus stops, walking on underground transit, and riding public transit

- Surviving strikes and weapons assaults in confined and crowded spaces

- Preventing and defending against shoves and pushes (including those near tracks)

- Defending from a seated position against strikes, threats, and weapons attacks

- Skills and techniques to defend yourself in confined spaces, like on buses, streetcars and subway cars

- The psychology of attackers, and how to de-escalate, respond as calmly as possible, and avoid freezing in the face of an attack.

This workshop is open to everyone regardless of previous training, current skill or fitness levels. Self-defence is a right and learning to protect yourself and your loved ones against armed attackers is one that everyone should have the opportunity to learn. This is a must-have set of skills for self-defence.
